The New Atheist is accused of being militant and even akin to fundamentalists. As I see it, we are simply more outspoken and less likely to mince our words so as not to insult someone’s fairy tale view of the universe. When speaking our minds, and even when silent, atheists have never been well tolerated. And we should continue to lick the boots of those that kick us? Hmm.
Maybe I am militant.
Of course, there are many types of believers, as there are many types of non-believers. I may get feisty when speaking of believers in the abstract, but when face to face with a specific believer, my humanistic values come through. I am respectful and tolerant, perhaps even to a fault.
